AWESOME PRESCHOOLERS

TO

PRESCHOOL

With a blink of an eye, your little baby is now a preschooler. You will now see him full of energy, bossy and generally out-of-bounds behavior. He will want to touch, smell, taste, hear and test everything and is eager to learn. This is the stage where he is busy developing skills and language. He is more independent and is able to express his needs and wants with a greater command of language. Welcome to preschool stage!

As your child grows into the preschool stage, his world will begin to open up. He will begin to focus more on adults and children outside the family. His interactions with family and those around him will help shape his personality, thinking and moving.

Here’s some positive parenting tips that can help your preschooler during this time.

READING

If you have been reading to him all this time, keep up the good work. Continue to nurture his love for books by taking him to the library or bookstore.

DISCIPLINE

Be consistent and clear when you are disciplining your child. Explain and show the behavior that you expect from him. Whenever you say no, follow up with what he should be doing instead.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Help your child develop good language skills by speaking to him in complete sentences and using “grown up” words. Help him to use the correct words and phrases.

ALLOW SIMPLE CHOICES

Give your child a chance to make certain choices like choosing his clothes, when to play and what to eat for a snack.

SAFETY

Teach your child how to be safe around strangers. Also educate him on road safety and why it is important to stay out of traffic.

MEAL TOGETHER

Have meals together with your child whenever possible. Let your child see you enjoy different types of food like fruits and vegetables, wholegrain and meat. This will help you to bond with him and also encourage him to try different food.
